2011 will be the 50th Anniversary of the twinning association set up between Long Eaton, Romorantin-Lanthenay and Langen. In 2011 Long Eaton will be hosting guests from France and Germany, and we want to make this Anniversary one to remember!

The event will commence on Friday 28th May and finish on Wednesday 1st June. For this reason, we are seeking new hosts or members who would be able to join us on these dates and find out whether twinning is for you.

What does twinning offer?

The opportunity to meet some wonderful people and develop long lasting friendships both in the UK and abroad - Friendships that not only carry on during the twinning visits but during the whole year.
The opportunity to visit some wonderful new places, taste delicious food and drink and enjoy some remarkably varied entertainment.
For anyone wishing to develop French and German skills this is the perfect opportunity, although most visitors from France and Germany speak perfect English.

The agenda for a visit

Normally visitors will be welcomed when they arrive on the Friday evening by their hosts where they will spend the rest of the evening.
On the Saturday morning there is a civic reception and buffet where all hosts and visitors will meet. There will also be a meeting of the brass band from Long Eaton and Langen
For anyone wishing to attend a ecumenical church service, one is always organised for some time on the Sunday. The rest of the day is free with the hosts - usually this involves either visits to local attractions or meeting up with friends.
Monday will be an organised day out to Liverpool for all visitors and hosts. Visitors will be able to either join a planned schedule or choose to spend the day how they wish. After a wonderful day, the bus will drop everyone off at the Novotel for an relaxing evening supper and entertainment.
Tuesday is free for shopping and local sightseeing with hosts.
Visitors then leave on the Wednesday morning.

If you recieve this before September 21st, you are most welcome to come to our next general meeting, held at the Long Eaton Erewash Indoor Bowling Centre, off Grange Road, Long Eaton. The main topic for discussion will be preparing for next year's 50th anniversary visit.
